Well after getting flashed by the camera I have been waiting. Today I received in the post a letter NOTICE OF INTENDED PROSECUTION :( doing 49 in a 30 so wont even be offered the choice of a speed awareness course. So it looks like I will be receiving points, not sure how many it is these days. Got to inform them the driver details or it's an enforcement of 6points 8O. I'm not sure whether I should just accept the fine and points or go to court over it. The court may send me on the awareness course with mitigating circumstances.

Apparently to be given the option of the course one has to be doing under 42 in a 30 or 53 in a 40. fiddler.

Don't they realise 49mph feels like 20 on a bike

Shite news mate, do those points join others or are you clean at the moment? Should be just the three I should imagine.

thats a real b8stard Carl :(

I thought I got speed trapped by a van on the last Op storm in wales and I dreaded every brown letter than came through the post............perhaps because I was in the other lane completing an overtake [which was why I was well above the speed limit!] the camera wasnt focused on me, but I was Lucky and no envelope came.

I dont think you will get far in taking it to court unless you think you have some very good extenuating circumstances, you may just be beter to go with the 3 points and the fine

Probably best not to take the court option, represent yourself and use the above as your opening statement!!!

I currently have a clean license and will just take what's coming to me as my only truthful mitigating circumstances are that I thought I was in a 40 zone and I could not see the speedo clearly as the weather was torrential rain and it was covered in rain along with my visor. I could also add that the tunnel lighting is not very well lit as well.

It's not a brown envelope, it's a white one from Met Police with no return envelope. Bloody cut backs, they can't even afford the price of a stamp.

less points is obviously a bonus but you wont save any money cos the cost of the awareness course is more than the fine?! . my ex- missus and daughters boyfriend had to schlep all the way to chelmsford and the course was about 60 or 70 quid i think

not having a lot of luck lately are you mate

That's what I figured, plus I would have the court fees, fine etc just for the sake of not getting the points. When I weighed it up it's as broad as it is long so I better off just accepting the points. At's not as if the insurance increases much if anything for 3 points on a license.

An yes my luck is not good at the moment I'm on the down rollorcoaster of life waiting for it to go up and do a loop.
