headlight help

checked my headlight after the derbyshire run and it looks like it had a home made blue tint. want to replace it for something with more power, bu I don't want to upgrade to hid.

can anyone recommend a quick upgrade, best bulb to get?

Be aware that if you use a very powerful bulb there is the risk you will melt the wiring due to the high current draw. It is usual to fit a thicker independant set of cables for this purpose. I would go up to 2.5mm core cable that will handle most applications up to 27 amps.

Not just wires that can melt (even using a stock bulb) also the nylon bulb holder - best get a ceramic jobbie with the beaver kit

i made my own relay loom with ceramic bulb holder .
i got all the bits of ebay apart from the relays witch i got from maplins
2 hours work and £25 later jobs a good one .

i used a 100/90w blub in mine its bright as wombles but running it in damp conditions can lead to condensation build up in the head light that will damage it.

if you fit the relay kit from e/b get the ceramic bulb holder but be careful with it as it will brake if you drop it .

just run a normal bulb as the relay kit will make it brighter on its own as its getting the full 12volts from the battery .

also having your head light alignment set on the upper limit will help you to see that little farther .

Just throwing another option out there. It's cheaper and easier (lazier) and it's not from across the pond.

Tell you what though anyone purchasing from eastern beaver (nice beaver ) should look into getting their regulator rectifier and generator upgrade cables as well.

I use Halfords 2 for price of 1 Car branded - Xenon Extreme Brilliance Bulb - 12V 60/55W 472EB H4

i use 100/55w with a relay system. dip is still not great for fast night riding but much better than stock, but on full beam it is great

goto Maplins, think all mine came to was about 15 quid, 2 relays, 2.5mm auto cable, proper spades and insulators etc
just aint got around to finishing it yet lol

Get the HIDs - it's worth it in the long run - mines dazzling bright...
