if you look on the video there is good ground clearance on the ski's mate.

spikes work well on ice but if you get to a gritted road its not so good, some ski's you could fit would be mega for those that do have to use it all year round

That's bloody brilliant, great idea. It's basically putting stabilisers on, I'm sure it's not to difficult to make something up. I would have though the ski part would be the hardest as ski's are only designed for snow, so on ice, salt, roads it would break or wear the ski surface very fast. Maybe they need to be more like tyres. tyre rubber along the surface of the ski that meets the road surface.

I'm surprised there no companies making these sort of things over here as a part of road safety. It would allow bikes to ride through all winter and weather. At the moment I would just go slow and use my feet.

Wouldnt it be easier to get a cheap land rover lol, can remember about 10 years ago maybe longer, I had a modified GPz750 turbo, right little animal, my sister was at uni in Northampton and went up to see her, it snowed while I was up there.
Coming back down the M1 was fun in the evening, full of snow and ice, hadn't been gritted or cleared properly and the bike was a nightmare, decided I would do it again lol.

Didnt think we was allowed to use spiked tyres here in the uk Seb?
If it gets that bad over here in the uk with global warming, we as a nation will struggle anyway, I believe we are on the same longitude as places like Canada, Greenland, Denmark etc
if with the ice caps melting and it all goes bad with the gulf stream, it will get bloody cold in the uk and we're just not set up so we wont cope with it!

Carl, can you imagine HSE getting wind of it, god the ratification process would be a night mare, bikes with ski's no, its like conkers with safety specs lol

Your probably onto something there. We will need snowmobiles with a big V twin inside. :biggrin
