did the recoverery get you back for your standard premium or did they want extra for some reason?

hope you get a tyre sorted

when I read the thread title I though we had another crasher!!! [or with your reputation at least a blow engine] so a flat tyre with AA fall back was better than I feared.

Still a waste of a good days riding :( ............

I take my plug kit and CO2 cartridges with me under the seat, but as I have never used them I dont know if I would manage to get it fixed, but it makes me feel like I have some insurance as I dont have AA membership!

but as I have never used them I dont know
It's real easy. If you can fix a puncture on a bicycle tyre then you are more than capable of a roadside puncture repair to the storm. Some of the kits are better quality than others. I prefer the ones that have the tapered (for want of a better word) patches.

The only time I called someone out (rac) for a flat he repaired it with a plug and 5 miles later it was flat again, get it patched on the inside as well, I wont use a plug on its own again.
She told me she was 16.

I've used them many times without any problems. But it's important to trim the excess off as close to the tread as possible otherwise the motion of the wheel turning could pull it out if it's just been fitted. The last little bit eventually melts/bonds itself to the surrounding area of the tyre as it wears down with the tread, so basically becomes part of the tyre. It's also a good idea to ride with a tyre not fully inflated after it's just been fitted. If they are fitted properly there should not be any problems.
