That's a new one on me. Never heard of a Plasma bulb before. I shall have to do some googling on it and see what it's all about.

Part of the reason the standard one is sh1t is the voltage dropped in the LH switch gear. All the contacts and small wires. Change to relays for switching from a direct battery feed and upgrade the bulb to a higher wattage and it will be much much better

Agree with the relay mod
I put a eastern beaver kit on mine and its miles better.
Was running 130w rally bulbs but they make a lot of condensate in the lamp which eventually ruins the shiny reflector.
The xenon h4 is a good upgrade, with the relays.

yep agree with benny, even the relays and the standard bulb are a improvement, made mine up from parts from maplin
my relays are rated upto 35 amps but never going to use all that so fused it down to 15 amps thats more than enough

That's a normal filament-type bulb, no plasma involved.
Plasma is an energised gas, difficult to focus and very energy-intensive.

It's just a marketing name.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

cheers all and tony about it being a gimmick nearly bought it
I just want direct replacement as dont want to mess with relays etc so if you have a link for just a good bulb that would be brilliant.

I bought a 50% brighter one from Halfrauds a few years back. Not sure about 50% brighter but it was an improvement. Must be better options available now.

I'll go down the relay route over winter. If I remember I'll measure the current used before and after for a direct comparison. That way there will be a definite figure for % brighter.

I should carry a spare - but then I thought changing it in the dark would probably be impossible. I remember struggling to change the bulb, trying to get that damn clip back on. Unless someone knows an easy way.... :?:

Drop the fairing a fraction and rest it on the front guard (remember to put a towel on it) - 10 minute job rather than fiddling with the clip and it ending up in headlight unit.

Look for halfords two for one deal on Auto 12V 60V/55W 472EB H4 Extreme Brilliance bulb - as its exactly the same one in the MC parts dept at the full price for just one.

I've not used that particular brand before but have got Xenons in my Fazer which has a similer lighting problem to the storm. I bought the phillips ones from Halfrauds. Xenons are a definite improvement without giving off too much heat which can cause melting problems with some headlight lens.
