What to do next...

Post by Ckennedy »

Since having me storm I have added braided brake hoses, New tyres, manual cct's, New small indicators and some stickers. Now I am at a loss of what to do next. Suspension would be on my list but I can not afford it at the moment. Are there any other upgrades/mods I could do to the bike which won't cost a lot of money but make a difference? Getting bored of being on holiday all ready and need to do something as I am currently stuck at home :(

Soooooooo, any suggestions?

Quick action throttle using the free version that tony.mon posted . Make a plastic spacer to go under the cable to make the drum a larger diameter, there is a thread somewhere

Would be interesting to see this thread. I had wondered about the HRC quick throttle on eBay for 27 quid. So reading that thread would be a good idea.

Certainly looks interesting. Not sure if I trust myself to make it right though haha. Might have to give it a go. I remember when I did my cct's with Lloyd he said something about modifying the air filter box a little by cutting something out and removing something but can not remember fully. Also recommended having a 2nd standard box incase I did not like the changes. Can not remember the other mod(s) he suggested. Not to bothered about making it quicker at the moment as I still need to gain some confidence on it so for the moment small changes at a time.

Mine came with a 4mm spacer on the rear shock when I bought it so that's that one out the window. Have had to raise my bars up 10mm though which has taken the pressure off my wrists.I was wondering about dropping the front end by 5mm or so but this would counter act me raising the bars would it not?

NO, way too expensive for what it is. If you wait you will find one for about £15 on the bay or you could use I think it's the RC45 throttle tube which is slightly more than 1/6 of turn. http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... hilit=rc45 http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... hilit=rc45

I put a 6mm spacer in mine and dropped the forks 10mm.

TPS is something you could do which would not cost you anything http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... nt#p222504

or just strip your carbs down and give them a clean for the fun of it.

You could also do the air intake stack/trumpet mod....

Buy a pair (short and long) and fit the short for low end grunt or fit the long for more top end power.

I have two small stacks fitted as I like the lower end grunt and suits my style of riding better!

Also try dropping a tooth in your front sprocket another good improvement! Iv dropped two teeth for added shazzam

Also if you've got standard exhausts search 'bafflectomy' againg another good mod (although a pair of straight through pipes makes a better noise lol)

Balance the Carbs.

Did mine years ago and checked them again recently - they were way out. Makes a huge difference, I'll check them more often now

Luckily I've got a Scottoiler so I can just unplug that for the rear cylinder.
