I know it's tight but I'm pretty sure it just pulls out.

There is a spring clip higher up the bars I think, take the grips off and the switches and see if there is a little cut out then you press in that to release the clip

To remove the internal bar weight you need to release (push in) the two little tangs. You can just see the top one sticking up in the picture where I've arrowed it, but there is a bottom one at 180* to the top one. You need to hold the bar in a vice while releasing both tangs at the same time with two small flat blade type screwdrivers, then with a third hand pull the weight out. When the weight is in the handle bar the little tangs sit in two small holes which you can see from the outside of the bar. If you force the weight out without releasing it first you will most likely break the tangs off, or at least one of them.

all done, thanks to all for the helpful advice. I got Flatty's 9 year old daughter to pull out lloydiecbr's weights from his donated clipon, nice easy job for her.

Stuck the old clipon in the vice and 2 pulls later out it came and then stuffed them into the new clipon.

The bar end tightens up nicely even with the heated grips on, so ta lloydiecbr for the clipon and everyone for the advice. :D
