Engine Temperature

Post by nathanharold1987 »

Hi guys

Only had the storm a few weeks and went out on my second ride today.

Went out last weekend and it was about 13 degrees. Engine temp sat at 1/4 on the temp guage all day, except when in traffic when it rose to half.

Did about 90 mile today, but it was only 8 degrees, dropping to around 6 in the rural areas. Reasonably fast ride with no stopping. Engine temp was sat at the notch next to C all day, only rising to 1/4 through the villages when slowed down a bit. Was eventually on half after some slower traffic on way home through industrial estate.

Is it normal for these biks to run cool when the weather is colder or do I need a new thermostat?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Perfectly normal
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

Ah thats good then. I bought it on a sunday so didnt get to use it, went out last weekend and this weekend. Only really get the opportunity to ride at the weekend at the moment as its stored 15 mile away in my parents garage as I am in the middle of building my garage. Also I'm soft and only ride in the dry and when its warmer. Hoping to get some rides in through the winter as I love the bike, that V twin grunt is addictive! Came from a bandit 600 and the difference is amazing. I embarrased a BMW M3 today who tried it on and I just love the bike, so easy to pound down country roads with little effort. Mate on his 600 is screaming to keep up when the storm is plodding along!

   welcome to the land of Storm. Glad your enjoying it.

Regarding the temperature it's not unusual for them to rise to the half way mark when hot. The fan should kick in just above the half way mark. Anywhere below that is normal
