Suzuki X5 200cc, very buzzy, but quick. really liked it, but they seem very small now, even though I haven't grown much in 25 years

slow is smooth, smooth is fast

An ickle Z400J with a Kerker 4-1. Got caught doing my first ton-up on it going up the A12 to a parkies open day! Bullet proof and I'd love to own one again - but I'd shoehorn in a 550 lump for giggles.
If I was doing it again today and passed my test I'd consider getting a Kawasaki GPZ500S or a ZZR600.

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

First 500 from various 250/300 sizes - thrashed the nuts off it and it was a hoot

and then into the big league - loved it

Went from a CB 175 to a 650 Bonnie (T120)
sadly no pics, was a long long time ago
was the most unreliable piece of crap i ever owned, worth a lot of money now though

First bike after test was Firestorm
Great learner bike, predictable tractable power, its a very well rounded bike the storm from hooning around up in the revs making the soundtrack of God's plumbing to pottering down the road on a commute
People will tell you Fuel consumption is crap, it's not that bad... its just it has a petite tank
They had another great write up other week in MCN
Simple to work on and maintain, loads of bits on the used market
I've toyed with the idea of getting rid of mine but i just couldn't, when i use the blade for a few weeks i miss the storms engine, if i traded it in it would have to be for an SP2

Re: what was your first big bike??
sat my test on a Suzuki X5 at 17, then got a Honda Superdream 400, swapped that for a Yam 350LC, swapped that for a Suzuki GS1000S when I was 21.
didnt plan the gradual evolution to a full Thou bike, was just what I could afford at the time.
After than the bikes got smaller again......Suzuki GSX750 down to a MZ250 [racer] then a KDX200 [enduro] then back up to the storm
and in that list I wish I had kept the LC and the thouS. I still look at them on e-bay but they are silly money now

Re: what was your first big bike??
As a spotty 17 year old and after getting rid of the slow 50cc ped I got a Suzuki GT250.. Two stroke twin and very quick for it's time. This was the time when 250s could be ridden on L Plates, the fun we had....mates had the Kawasaki KH250 and Yamaha RD250s, The good old days.

Re: what was your first big bike??
I loved my 1st big bike. It was great fun. Wrote it off doing 10mph. On top of that the car it went under contained a lovely lady on her way to hospital to give birth

The firestorm did the same to me, hence going for a more sensible grown up bikescott02464 wrote:2001 R6 bloody loved it!
