What is this CCTstop tool?

Post by Image »

Can someone explain what this is and how it works? Is this the actual stop bar to be fitted or just a tool to help fit it?

It's not the stop bar. That you have to make from a bit of 8mm bar or M8 bolt.
The tool is to lock off the cct before removing otherwise the spring will unwind itself and you will loose the length inside where you fit the bar.

Basically under the bolt at the top of the cct you will see a cross cut into the top of the cct. Inside the top shaft of the cct there is a slot, like a screwdriver slot. So before removing the cct it needs to be locked off in position. So insert the tool and twist push it down into the grove to hold it in place.

Have a read through this thread here as it may make things a bit clearer http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25809

I thought we had covered this already in another thread ?

It is a locking tool. You take the cap of the end of the CCT & use this tool to lock the CCT in the position it is in, re- the amount it has retracted or extended. This is so that when you remove it you can replace with out altering the length, as they are spring loaded the length would change on removal.

When fitting manuals you measure the locked off length & set the manuals to that length.

It has nothing to do with the with the 'stop bar' as you call it.

Ah Speedy-gon-Carlos has beaten me to it !!

I'm planning on doing the stopper mod Saturday, I was struggling to work out how the locking key worked. Thanks for this, clears it up for me too! :)
Did you just high five me in the face?!?
