Depends on the year it was made. My 02 is not an F2 but an FY as it was made in 2000 but not registered until 02.

Yours will probably be an FW if it's a 98.

97/98/99/00/01/02/03

'97-'00 early model – '01-'03 late model
Check your VIN no.as this will give you your year of manufacture model etc

JH2=WMI Honda Japan

VTM=Montesa/Honda Spain

e.g. JH2RD07ABTM000992 or JH2RD07A1YM417129
JH2: country of production (JH2=WMI Honda Japan, 1HF=Honda America, ZDC=Honda Italy, VTM=Montesa/Honda Spain)
SC36A: VTR1000F
A or B: early or late model version
1: control number (1-9 or X)
T: year (T=1996, V=1997, W=1998, X=1999, Y=2000, 1=2001 ... 6=2006)
M: factory (M=Hamamatsu/Japan, K=Kumamoto/Japan, A=Ohio/USA, F=Atessa/Italy, E=Barcelona/Spain
000992: serial number

So mine JH2SC36A4VM8****** was '97 built in Hamamatsu/Japan.
