Ducati 750ss First time project
Re: Ducati 750ss First time project
That looks weird, like a mix of old and new. It's like the top half of the bike is all old and the bottom half all modern. Like two bikes cut in half and stuck together.

Looks good but would look fantastic with wire wheels
Re: Ducati 750ss First time project
A mate of mine has a 900SS FE.
Lovely bike, low mileage and in perfect condition. I don't think it's ever seen any rain.
It was the first air cooled/dry clutch bike I rode and I couldn't believe the noises it made, so different to a modern Jap bike. I do like it though and have a go as often as I can. I know it's completely different but it was one of the reasons I bought the Griso.....

Update 27 Oct.12
Been building a fiberglass box to go under the seat hump, to house the electrics
Cardboard box covered in silver tape to allow easy removal
Cut some of the frame to open up the rear as well as making an aluminium undertray
Will be welding in a piece to finish the "V"
Cut up my old VTR mudguard to make one for the Ducati, used plastic filler to repair
Covered in silver foil prior to fiberglassing, though I have decided not to go ahead with it
Notice the new twin disc set up

That's coming along very nicely. I like the fibreglass box you have made. Good job.

Re: Ducati 750ss First time project
It looks so good because of the second braided hose Chris!!
Update 1 Nov.12
Been doing a couple of things to the bike, one of them being the fitting of the electrics box to the undertray
We are getting there..........slowly

Why have you got kitchen knives in your tool collection. A coat of paint on your fibreglass box would be nice.

looking forward to seeing the finished product flatterz
HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: Ducati 750ss First time project
It will be getting a coat of paint, and the top will need to be hinged
First the bike needs to be build, then taken apart again so that it can be painted, welded and whatever
Then it can be put back together again

Update Dec 12. Exhausts
Been playing around with different ideas re the exhausts and thought I would resist the standard reverse cone or Dunstall style
Found some shorties at 9 inches long a 3 inches diameter so not much bigger than the foam I have used
They can supply unchromed and the long outlet will be removed
Some foam mock ups to see what it could look like
All in slightly different positions
