would it feel like new again?
would it feel like new again?
if you was to replace all the bearings like headstock, wheels, swingarm, linkage, shock pivots etc and refreshed the suspension would the bike feel as together and solid as a new bike did?

Re: would it feel like new again?
That's an interesting thought Seb. I think there is a lot more to the feel of a bike than the bearings. I bet if you where to ride a brand new storm and then get on your storm, yours would feel better. One, because you are used to it, and two because you have upgraded suspension, race cans etc etc. I don't think changing those bearings would make much difference at all unless the ones in there at the moment are damaged and needing replacing anyway.
You would have to consider all the engine bearings, as well, as the vibration from the engine alters the feel of thing's. Also has the engine been put in the frame square on and all engine mounting bolts done up in the right sequence and required torques. There are so many factors to how a bike feels.
You could jump on two brand spanking new storms and they will both feel different from each other. Some of this would be because the way they have been built/put together, which batch are they, how have they been run in. And some would be psychological like the colour of the bike.
I wouldn't go changing all bearings just for the sake of it. Just change them as they need changing because of excess wear or damage. Or if they are still original, change them at convenient points because you have that part of the bike stripped down anyway. Like the rear suspension linkages, if you have the swingarm off and stuff then one might as well do the bearings at the same time as it's all apart anyway.
Otherwise just keep all the bearings lubed/greased up at required service intervals.

Re: would it feel like new again?
i was back on the RR3 while my mesh was curing, it just feels so solid and well built and the suspension set setup is so plush
want to get the tired storm feeling like new again i need a new spring for this WP shock too before i stick that in
basically i want the build quality of the blade with the storms looks and engine

Re: would it feel like new again?
That aint gonna happen they are two totally different bikes built for a different purpose. There's no comparison between the two apart from they are both Honda's. Jump on a brand new Storm and it's not gonna feel like a Fireblade.basically i want the build quality of the blade with the storms looks and engine

new chain n sprox, new cush drive.... makes a big difference, as well as wheel bearings, headstock, swing arm & fresh rubber - and the obvious fresh hydraulics and caliper clean & pads.seb421 wrote:if you was to replace all the bearings like headstock, wheels, swingarm, linkage, shock pivots etc and refreshed the suspension would the bike feel as together and solid as a new bike did?
what more could you do

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.
