Shock Springs
Shock Springs
Does anyone know where you can get a Spring for the WP shock off the shelf,
mine has a spring rated at 70 or 75 kg's i think and have not bothered to install it, would like to see what my options are, seller said it was for 14 stone rider, but when i checked the spring it wasn't
or if any other makes springs fit like hagon or hyperpro etc?

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Is it easy to swap over a shock spring? is there any oil to put in etc, is it a WP that you have mate?benny hedges wrote:i just got a yacugar spring from ftr suspension for mine mate.

Re: Shock Springs
Seb those numbers don't sound right.
My springis now a 950 lb spring which converts to a 17kg/mm
That is for an 83 kg rider

Re: Shock Springs

even riding two up, brilliant.
you need a hydraulic press ideally to compress the spring then the retaining cups just lift out.
takes 15 mins with the right kit.
yacugar will fit the spring for you for free if you send the shock to them.

Re: Shock Springs
Changing only the spring of the rear shock.
That sounds really good.
That would possibly solve half of the hand-numbing-problem. After that you wouldn't need to squeeze the bars like a gorilla with constipation to stay on the saddle on a bumpy road.

Re: Shock Springs
If you only ride solo that spring will be ok for you. I was using a 150N before and it was great till I added a pillion, the 170N is a better compromise for me with a mix of solo and light pillion, so should be bang on for you only solo.

Re: Shock Springs
thats why i got the progressives...
the adjustment actually works, unlike the standard hardtail spring lol.
set it up how you want it and it makes no difference to the handling with a passenger or luggage.
within reason lol.... if you had a big massive fat mutha on the back carrying a frame tent it might be a bit boingy lol

Nice one buddy yeah i only ride solo now, not had a pillion on for about 3 years or more can't get hangers on with these exhausts without adapters / spacers and i don't like the look that givesAMCQ46 wrote:If you only ride solo that spring will be ok for you. hopefully with the WP on and the progressive hagon springs for the 954 forks off BSM the bike will feel brilliant
wombles is thudding over the smallest of bumps and cracks in the road, went on a long ride a while ago and my kidneys was aching after it with the bouncing / thudding on a fast ride

Re: Shock Springs
Hi Seb, glad you got it worked out.
I guess the key thing that I forgot to explain was the the number on the spring although sometimes quoted as kg, lb or Newtons is nothing to do with the weight of the rider. It is actually the spring rate and is the number of kg needed to move the spring by 1 mm ( or inch if you use lb rating).
To work out what spring rate suits what rider weight you have to then factor in the shock linkage ratio, the weight of the bike, the weight distribution of the bike and the type of riding. Then you add the rider weight (in full riding gear). And I use the racetec web site to work that out for me
