APE tensioner

Post by jono »

Hello All,

I've scanned all the threads. What is the verdict on manual tensioners. I have done a valve adjust, have the manual tensioners, and am ready to install. Questions are:

has anybody figured out how to tighten them correctly?
how often should they be adjusted?
is there any easy method for getting at both of them?
has anybody had a bad experience that would put them off of using them?

thanks - ready to get out of the garage...

Hello,

I send the same question to APE and this is what they repleyed:

It is a hearing and feeling thing. As you rotate the motor, taking the slack out of the chain you turn the tensioner in until you have made sufficient contact with the guide. Crank another 1/4 turn and that should be good. If you start it and it is still a bit loose sounding then go 1/4/ of a turn past the sound going away. If you want full detailed instructions go to aperaceparts.com and click on tech and spec, then CCT. That will take you to a link that is excellent.
