This ain't winter yet buddyGriff1977 wrote:I mostly think I chose the wrong week to prove to myself that its ok to ride the 'storm during winter!
I rode from Hull (Beverley) to Anglesey on Sunday (chuffing windy & rainy from north Wales A55 onwards), then Anglesey to Leamington Spa ;emergency services show) on Tues eve- went ok. Then from 2pm today Leamington Spa back home to Beverley (chuff chuffing windy, no rain!). Left early from the show due to being evacuated from our display hall due high winds!
Worst bit is both the slow speed bits and open sides of the motorways when wind at 90 degrees- it's really gusty!
Ride safe all!

Layer up matey. Keep your head, hands and feet warm. Windproofing is just as important as waterproofing. Get your self nice and warm before you head out. Avoid snow if you can help it unless you have knoblies/spikesGriff1977 wrote:Does anybody have any tips and / or products that you use to help with winter riding?
summer gloves with heated grips work best, do not use winter gloves with hot grips as bugger all heat can get through them as they are too thick, to keep the wind off and keep the heat in put some bar muff over the top too and you will be snug mateGriff1977 wrote:Ha! It feels like it! Found my leathers with one piece waterproof kept me toasty- even over the M62 on Sunday night.

Using my heated grips really helped! I'm wearing summer race RST gloves still but with the grips it's fine!

That sounds good, I could get some down my localbar muff
Ohhh Sir, silk balaclava Sir, do you like the feel of silk Sir, next to your skin Sir, hmmm. Does it reassure you Sir, does it? Ohhhh Sir.BigVeeGrin wrote:The neck tube that goes down to the top of you chest and shoulder blades in windproof material is the best thing I got - think Oxford made it. Decent wicking base layer/s as well & silk balaclava.
