Coolant overflow

Post by droid »

Mine has started venting coolant. Not more than a few cc.s and there's plenty left in the bottle, but is this normal (or acceptable)?

Cheers

A small amount occasionally is normal, just check coolant level periodically,

Have you noticed it running hotter than usual? I know with the air temps coming up to "summer time temps" that my bike is running a lot hotter than up until recently.
As Chris said, small amounts are fine, but anything more needs investigation. There should only be a tiny amount in the reservoir too!

Thanks for that.
The proble seems to be abating. It started after I fitted a pair of Microns. This involved a fair bit of the old 'physical' to get the buggers in line and to get the straps done up.
Is it possible that all this shaking sloshed some coolant into the overflow at the top of the bottle?
I am to bike mechanics what the Klu Klux Klan are to race relations, so if I am talking baldrocks could some kind soul tell me!

Cheers lads
