Not the first time, wont be the last

Post by willmartyr »

Arrived at the bike this afternoon to find that a car had shunted the bike over, cracking the left front fairing and bending the side stand badly. They put the bike back upright and utilized some impressive balance skills to keep it upright. Of course.... no note

two questions: 1. can I get the stand bent back or should I get a new one (salvage £15) 2: does anyone know where I can get a salvage front left panel (preferably yellow 1997)?

The dishonesty of people scares me but never surprises.

cheers

Well I know how that feels :( Yep ebay is your best bet unless anyone on here has one. Make sure you get the right Yellow as there are a few different shades. Yellow is a very hard colour to match if going down the re-spray route. If you have a space in the rear shock you may want to consider a slightly longer stand. CBR1100 ones fit http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=24368 and you can usually picj them up cheaper than a Storm one. You may be able to straiten the bent one with a bit of heat, but to be honest once they are bent it's going to be a weak point so probably best to replace.

Nice of them to put it back up on its side stand, if it was in a car park you can ask to see the CCTV.

Some people are scum, I hate the lazy tits who leave trolleys parked into you're car to.

Sorry to hear about this. Is there no CCTV anywhere? I've got a side stand I can sell you for £10 if you cant bend yours back.

Left panel - needs some work to fix the cracks and missing bits, plus respraying. Or bite the bullet and buy a new one from David Silvers.

How bad is the damage to your fairing? Any pics? Can it be repaired: http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 7&p=233446

People like that just p**s me right off, about a year ago I saw a guy do it someone's bike in the local Tesco car park, he knocked the bike over, got out of his car to see what he'd hit, then had the cheek to get back in his car and attempt to drive off :Mad3:
me and my partner stood in the road to stop him moving, I then held the door open and gave him a load of what I thought of him :Argue 1: while my partner went and got some help :bobby2: luckily for the biker we managed to stop him, but if we hadn't have been there he would have just drove off :No No:

Re- Side stand
Where do live :?:
If you're anywhere near me, get it over to me and I'll have a go at straightening it for you

Re- Fairing, just sit back and wait for a yellow one to turn up on ebay.

+1 especially with Yellow as it's such a hard colour to match.
