rear brake disk life
After only 20.000 km (13.000 mi) the disk of my rear brake has gone below its mnimum thickness and requires replacement. Is this normal?

Using the rear brake too much? Humm.. most of the time I drive rather gently (my rear tyre lasted 20.000 km and my mileage is 12 km/l [32 mpg], driving exclusively in Tokyo) so it seems unlikely that my driving style is halving
the life of my rear disk.
Maybe the CL pads were too hard on the Honda stock disk, while Essexbloke wavey disk could take them better...
Anyways it is rather disapponting to have to replace the rear disk, which is almost useless anyways

I never use the back brake other than slow speed stuff and to sqwat the back end by trailing it into a corner used to use it to back it in but learnt thats not always very clever but it did look the dogs right untill it spat me off one time
.Does sound pretty excesive wear that though sure your not resting you foot on it or its not been binding

The voices made me do it

err..........
am i missing the point.........no-ones mentioned the joy of engine braking.... almost the biggest single advantage of riding a twin....
i virtually never use the rear brake, (unless doing silly u.turns in the road), otherwise, i leave most of my braking to the engine, & a big squeeze of front...
whether it's summit to do with the waveys? i dunno, but no complaints here....

Yellafella, mine are exactly the same after fitting Ferodo sintered pads - apparently theharder compound exposes slight irregularities in the disc - add braided hoses and you feel the pulsing through the lever etc. Busters are doing replacement discs for £99.99 each, but I can always think of something better to spend £200 on. Like petrol!
