Need some help. My bmw had a fuel light on the clocks (warning light)
Since am no longer using the clocks (ugly is not the word I'd use....)
I want to use some sort out led that comes on telling me that the fuel is low.
Now BMW has a fuel pump f.i so it primes when you turn it on.
Is there any thing out there I could use?

So basically you just want a low fuel light like on the storm but externally mounted somewhere. So where is the light you have currently get it's feed from. Does the BM have a fuel gauge as well as the warning light. If it don't and only has the light like the early storms, then I'm guessing there must be a sender unit in the tank which will tell it when it's low. If not and the BM has a fuel level gauge as well then I would have thought it will be getting it from somewhere else. Maybe electronically when the gauge gets to a certain level. Or maybe there is a sensor on the float or elsewhere on the tank so when it reaches a certain level it switches on. Have you had a look at the mechanism inside the tank to see what kind of system it's using? I'm not sure what the fuel pump has got to do with it. I'm just guessing as I don't know the bike and it's hard to work it out without a wiring diagram.

I see why the fuel pump comes into it now as there's a fuel level sensor there feeding it. OK so the sensor has 4 wires coming off it. You got the Green/Black wire (15) that goes to the fuel pump relay via fuse number 6, there also a feed coming off that to the Temp sensor unit. I figure this is a live as it goes to the fuse. Then there is the Brown wire (31) which looks like an earth. Then you have the other two (T1 and T2) which feed into what is labelled as low level (O) Not sure what these wires are or if the low level is a gauge or something else. But the Bulb Monitor (p) is fed from that. The Bulb itself has a Green/Black wire which also feeds the rest of the instruments goes to some kind of additional connector for instruments, which has an earth and a feed from the ignition. Then goes onto to number 3 on the fuses, it also has take off's for the brake light switch and clutch switch switches also heated grips.
Right so Green/Black wires are an ignition live via a fuse, Browns are earth and I'm not sure what the T1 and T2 are. The only other wire you have is a White/Blue which comes of the bulb to (K) on the bulb monitoring unit.
So basically all you have on the bulb is an ignition live feed and an earth via (O) Low level and the feed that goes to the bulb monitoring unit. You need to determine what (O) Low level is and if that can or needs bypassing and what the T1 and T2 are that go into that do.
I don't know if this helps at all, I'm confused now
and I've probably confused you as well
