Re: Mobile Tyre Fitting.
Got my trade account open and access to the so called trade prices. Not looking so rosy if I'm gonna be honest. All they kept saying was the couldnt give out trade accounts willy nilly, and had to protect the trade.......No cheaper than Round and Black on Ebay. Really dissapointed tbh. I'll still probably do a bit of advertising, but I honestly don't think its gonna work out as I expected. Shame, but sometimes the truth hurts !!

So what do they require as proof that you going be trading as a Business. I don't see how they can protect the trade if they wont allow trade accounts to start trading in the tradeAll they kept saying was the couldnt give out trade accounts willy nilly, and had to protect the trade

sorry to hear this lee, do you think they're not giving you much of a discount? and maybe firms who buy in bulk or who have been established for along time are getting a better deal?
i hope you can make a go of it, surely if you can match the price of someones local tyre shop, you stand a chance because you'll be travelling to them. don't forget to sort some cards/flyers out for me when i get back from spain, i could always do some fly posting on a few motorbike parking bays for you in the city, 10% comission of course....

have a good xmas buddy

HEY YOU GUYS!!!!!!
Re: Mobile Tyre Fitting.
Only a 2 tier pricing system...wholesale ( buying in big bulk ) and trade. I just can't see wtf they're meant to be protecting, when anyone can pretty much get the same price on the bay ??? I didn't expect there to be a 50% mark up but thought there'd be a bit in it. I have no idea what Essential Rubber pay for PR3's, but at what Carl paid, I would have made £17 quid on the deal.
They even sent me all the trade price catalogues, so its not like they are stitching me up personally. I just don't think the margins are any good.

Re: Mobile Tyre Fitting.
I think when anyone buys anything trade it's only about a 10% discount + tax can be claimed back. Those guys on eBay are most likely buying in bulk at wholesale prices, stocking their shelves, then the overstock gets chucked on ebay at pretty much what they payed for them. They don't need a profit, they just need to get rid of them so they can buy the next large batch to re-stock their shelves. If anything is killing the trades it's the wholesale prices and those kinda of practises where the more you buy the cheaper it is.
So for example say your shop could stock 100 tyres but it was cheaper to buy 150 at wholesale, buy 150 to stock the shelves and charge as much as you can get away with and make profit on fitting and balancing. Stick the overstock on ebay and sell them with no profit.

There really isn't much or any profit in tyres, you'll need to make your money on the fitting, people will pay for the convenience, it's just how many ?, also take into account the ebay prices might be as cheap as you can get them for but whoever buys them still needs to get them fitted, offer a fitting service for those who supply their own tyres. set your prices witihn a radius, say 5 miles = std fitting charge, 10 miles = extra £5 charge to cover costs, just as an example. Don't set a std fitting charge, but have a "fitting from" charge, you'll be glad you did when you get a deuville to do or something like a goldwing, also think twice before taking on the really wide rims you get on things like the v-rod, they can be difficult to fit, easier if you 7ft tall though
Contact these guys and see if you can get a ticket (show is late january) might be best to ring them and explain your just starting out, tickets are free. I've got mine ordered. The tyre wholesalers will be there and it'll give you a chance to talk to them face to face, maybe find out how to get a better deal ?

Re: Mobile Tyre Fitting.
That's exactly why I didn't purchase from ebay. At the price I paid, that little extra wasn't worth fussing over and having someone fit them was convenient. But if I was going to get charged more, say £260-£270 it would get me considering buying tyres of ebay and either getting a tyre machine of my own. Or taking those tyres to be fitted and balanced. PR3's can be bought for 220 so any more than a £10 a wheel for fitting and balancing just makes it not worth it.also take into account the ebay prices might be as cheap as you can get them for but whoever buys them still needs to get them fitted
