DIY Speedo Healer (electronics knowledge required)

I carefully checked all the details on programmer, voltages ... still it does not work at all, all the switched on should flash the led is not it? it is just dead... nothing happens, all the voltages are arriving to the pic, ut the code just does not run.

What to check now?

Can some one tell us what software and settings worked properly for this code? I am using icprog, but maybe there is some special settings I am not configurating properly....

Well, thanks for the info, but I would like to make this code work on that 16f88, I really wanted to know what software and what configurations must be made to properly burn this pic with icprog or any other software the author used ...

Can someone tell me which capacitors are used?

100nF 100V etc.?
I can't find the maplin order numbers anymore except for the 0,1pF (=1nF?) 100V RA39N.

I would like to build this speedo corrector for my DL1000 V-Strom.
All components are available but I don't have much knownledge on circuits and components...

Or do I need ceramic capacitors, or Elco's?
Do they all have to be the same making?

Sanscorp, the original poster of this thread has not posted on the site for over 2 years so don't hold out too much hope of him answering any questions any time soon.

I won't be of much help I struggle changing a bulb & that's about as electrickery as I get...

I just finished the schematic and programmed the PIC, havn't tried it yet.
Did sent TS a message trough his personal website, hope he doesn't mind..

For future interest:

I ordered the parts at eoo-bv.nl (yes it's Dutch), they are the cheapest arround and they can deliver allmost everything out of stock.

This is the PIC programmer I made, it's an ICSP (In Circuit Serial Programmer):


I have used the WinPIC software to write the PIC16F88 and this went smoothly, just a few seconds, I programmed 2 PIC's because I have ordered everything twice (in case of a major f*ckup )

You will need to have a free serial port on your PC, the standard Winpic settings are correct to use the tool.
Under "Interface" select JDM programmer as HW.
Don't change anything else.
Under "Device, Config" select your chip.
Save the code (HEX) from the site to a notepad file and change the name to "speedo.hex", load it with WinPIC and write.

I have power, I also believe the 16F88 is doing SOMETHING..
The LED only get's a few mV and I dob't have a scope to bench check the output.

I re-compiled the HEX with MPLAB IDE and ended up with exactly the same HEX as provided here.
So that's not the problem..

It must be either in the HW or in the SW that it doesn't work.
At least I can modify and convert to HEX now, again something learned
