and cush drive. might seem like a waster £35 but the difference in smoothness is very noticeable

Anyone ever bothered with ceramic bearings? I know they are damn expensive but just wondered if the returns made it worth it?

I am sure mik in Canada used ceramics but can't remember if he rated them as an improvement!

I try and buy Japanese bearings rather than Chinese. although I Now have one good Chinese brg supplier for work, I have had 3 that didn't match up to the NSK, KoYO, SKF quality.

You get what you pay for and as you don't Plano change them every yr put in the best you can afford.

I've fitted some ebay "all balls racing" ones - seem good to me and not expensive. Doesn't feel like it's falling over now so it's a marked improvement.

Best to beg/steal/borrow a internal bearing puller (the slidehammer type) to get them out. Makes the job SO much easier then trying to bash them out from the opposite side.

I think I lost my marbles... Sorry, bearing balls during the Teutonic trip. I hope the damaged bearings didn't damage the rear wheel bearing housing but for sure I need to change the bearings. I will post soon some pics about the bearings for everyone to see how far you should not go with them (but you can if you are daredevil enough )...

But I actually wanted to ask if there is a recommendation to change the rubber dampers from the cush drive? Since they are originals and they have lived a respectable 15 years it might be time to change them...

Are there some recommended bearing changes to the shock linkage as well?

best change the cush rubbers especially after 15 years. And best to overhaul (grease or replace if necessary) the rear shock linkage bearings before they dry out, start squeaking and seizing.... (see workshop knowledgebase section)
