Got a nice 2006 VTR 1000 SP2 in my sights, so looking for a little guidance

Are there the same problems with the CCT's, and are there any other problems to watch out for

things to do.....

get some decent (long) cans on it as the standard ones are too quiet and too heavy.

fit a power commander and get it mapped... or give us yer email and i'll send you my map

pull the tube off the intake servo and plug it. or remove it completely.

de-pair it.

get a speedo healer (12 o clock labs speedo drd)

Hopefully nobody here is looking at the same bike, but just in case The one I'm chasing is below and it's for sale somewhere near Dundee, it's got a nice set of Arrow cans on it. Fingers, toes and everything else crossed cos I WANT IT

Fantastic bikes, I love mine, but then again I always wanted one since the day they came out.
JUST GET IT, you'll have a permanent smile on your face from that day on
The only thing, I'd say to you is, don't fall into the trap of thinking it will be like a Firestorm, It is nothing like a Firestorm apart from they're both V Twins.
The SP2 is a total different machine and does take some getting used to, much patients young padawan is required or it will all end in tears
Most people who have them have really looked after them so you should be ok unless it's been bounced down the road/circuit of course
What year is it and how many owners has it had

What do you think of them compaired to a Blade, I was always thought the blade was an animal, but mine is pretty civil untill you ring its neck.

the sp2 - even sp1 with a pc3, can be a gent in towns and traffic, especially with a tooth down on the front, but they do get a move on when you get heavy on the throttle.
you dont have to wring them to go quick lol!
like the storm, but moreso, they are deceptively fast - extremely lol!

What I mean was that when my mate had his 2010 Honda Fireblade that bike was F*******G mental, I sat on the back and that bike flew two up, it actually made me feel a bit sick. whilst I knew that my Fireblade didnt have as much BHP as the newer blade ( 50 BHP difference I believe ) I was kind of thinking it would be similiar and in a way thinking have I done the right thing as I need a bike that can do town riding like the storm done nicely when riding the blade I was thankfull that under 6K it was quite a nice bike to ride open it up over 6K and it turned into a snarling pit bull.

I dont want to get into a debate of the VTR is better than Fireblade etc, its irrelivant to me as I like both regardless, but for instance if we have my CBR900RRX lined up with an SP1 with a cloned rider what bike would be better in a straight line, which would be better round bend, which would have the better bottom/mid/top range, how would handling compair, just to get a feel for the SP in terms of difference as I know both bike are/were Hondas jewel in its crown so to speak.

It’s very difficult to give you any help here without knowing what you intend doing with it, the older FireBlade and the SP2 are two totally different machines, both fantastic bikes in their own right.
The Fireblade you refer to is a fantastic all rounder and does what it says on the tin, and does it well. The SP1 / SP2 is a harder bike to ride and you have to spend time with it to get used to it, but once you do it’s so rewarding and you’ll have a big grin on your face every time you go out on it, or for that matter even when you open the garage door to look at it you’ll smile with lust.
I have both a 1998 FireBlade RRW and a 2003 SP2, so I could tell you about the differences, but what’s the point, I’d up all night typing, the first thing you need to do is tell us what you intend to do with it i.e. track days, weekends rides, touring, do you intend to carry a passenger, what style of rider are you i.e. steady, knee down or just ride normal with an occasional burst. come on give us a clue and we might be able to help with more information.
I also have a 2001 Firestorm but don’t make the mistake of thinking that it is anything like an SP2 because it’s not, again they are two totally different machines, probably the only resemblance is that they’re both V Twins.

A Blade is just a Blade, unless it's a blade, but no matter which model you get it isn't made by HRC.
Unless it is, but then you can't afford it.

Ok I'll make it simple, both bikes are Honda Jewel in the crown.

Imagine you had an SP1 and a Honda Fireblade lets say the a 1998/9 version because it would be unfair to put an SP up against a new Fireblade, carl forgerty was cloned and so each had fogey riding them, they were on the start up line equally at brands hatch, how would the race go.

Remember this is about which is the best, I'm just interested because they are both " proper " sports bikes. Both bikes are standard out of the crate as well.
