Help!! No indicators
Help!! No indicators
Coming back from work tonight and noticed indicators not working. Will not get chance until weekend to investigate, to save me a bit of time, has anyone got any suggestions what it could be?
Further to the indicator prob, came to start it today, turned the key, lights came on as usual, pressed start button, heard a 'pop', lights on the display had gone out and completely dead. Took seat off, removed all the fuses (which were all ok) and then saw another 2 'big fuses' which I removed and put back. Turned the key, lights came on, and she started.
a) What was all that about?

main fuse and starter relay,its possible you have faulty starter relay,removing fuses and replacing them may have reset the relay,see how it goes for now,may need to replace,if happens again. ian

also in fuse box is a diode,this is part of safety circuit,prevents engine
starting,if in gear with side stand down,hope this is some help mate

I could use some advice on my own indicator issue... For a few months now, I've been having problems just with the left indicator. Every now & then (but for the whole trip) it would take forever to start flashing once I'd turned it on. Other trips it was fine. Seemed worse at night...? Possibly related to the colder weather? As Winter's come on, it's happening more frequently & now the right one's packing it in as well. The dash flash matches the indicators. Seems to all operate well during the day when all is warm & sunny.

Fuses don't usually blow at random. Either something is drawing too much current or your voltage regulator/rectifier is on its way out. If you have access to a multimeter then chack the voltage at the battery when the bike is running. If it goes over 15v when the bike is revved then it's the regulator rectifier.

Got a friend with a CBR. Will get him to do some part swapping & have a look at it. Thanks Ben. Doesn't sound like a fuse problem to me because of the timing. It seems too predictable to be just a loose connection or dodgy fuse. Gotta be something to do with the cold or something. She's kept in a closed garage normally, but if I'm on night duty, she's just parked in the cold under a building. Hope it's not the rectifier... I've just bought a new one! Shouldn't be that, though 'cause the problem started before then. Will keep you posted.

yep!
do that first (cause it quick and easy) and if everything is okay start pulling apart all your electrcal plugs and sockets and checking them for any green corrosion, don't forget to pull off the black rubber boot protecting the starter moter connection. clean anything which looks a bit grotty and give it a little squirt with some WD40.
