Clip ons
Clip ons
Right, I would be interested in raising the height of my bars, but don't want to go down the flat bars route, as I want to keep the look as is. Nor do I want to start butchering the fairings, so I know that limits things to a point. Anyone else using aftermarket clip ons, how much difference does it make, and what ones are you using. Had my eye on some adjustables on the bay, but thought I'd ask before taking a punt on them. I know vfr's fit, and later storm ones are a little higher, not sure they'll make enough difference.

Re: Clip ons
Few calls but jokers and dreamers mostly, so I'll keep it for now. Tbh I would rather keep it and get a second bike, but we'll see.Kev L wrote:Have you had any interest shown in the bike as yet Lee?

Re: Clip ons
How much do Vara's go for? Are they as bad at holding their value as the Storm?

Re: Clip ons
you could try those gb moto ones that keep the original clip ons, but use a spacer to raise them by a couple of cm's...

Re: Clip ons
To get the height your after then you will need to trim the fairing.
Re: Clip ons
Unless you spend some ££££ Hell Bars. I could be wrong but I don't think they require fairing trimming.

Re: Clip ons
If they are as high as other bars the fairing would need to be trimmed just the same.cybercarl wrote:Unless you spend some ££££ Hell Bars. I could be wrong but I don't think they require fairing trimming.

Re trimming the fairing, all you really need do is trim back the pieces that "drop down" as it were, which I think results in a cleaner more modern fairing line anyway. Some work with a dremel and a file/sandpaper and jobsa good'un.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Re: Clip ons
You could avoid having to trim the fairing if the angle of the clipons are changed.
I'm using the dan moto adjustables to get clearance for cbr900 forks.

Good bars but I changed all the 6mm bolts with longer ones so I could put a nut on the end as the thread is easily stripped before the clamps are completly tight. Other than that they seem a good option

Re: Clip ons
After having a second look at this trimming situation, I've decided to order a pair of these......

.......And do a bit of plastic removal if necessary. They're not higher per say, but I should be able to angle the bars almost flat, without totally losing the sports bike look.
Wish me luck !
