V Twin sports are designed to be able to accelarate like a train, its what gave foggy the edge and why Japs wanted a sporty v twin.

My blade will do 0-60 in 3.1 the VTR will do it in 3.4 thats bloody good.

The problem with V twins is they run out of steam higher up the rev/speed range and quite a lot, but it depends on your riding style and where your riding it.

TBH most riders run out of courage far sooner than the bike runs out of capability. I can keep with a Blackbird < 120, after that, frankly I'm not interested anyway. Bring on the bends.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

I've got a few years' worth of Bulldog Bash dragstrip times- I go every year (but missed last year  Bike wasn't ready).

They don't show a 0-60, but they do show breakdowns of launch to 60 yards, 120 yards, 360 yards and of course the 1/4 mile.

It's mostly the launch on Storms that keeps the times up, with a decent clutch and actuator I think sub 11 second runs are achievable and repeatable.
Best i have so far is 11.6, but I'm confident on sub 11's this year, I have a semi-hydraulic clutch conversion ready to bolt on and play, but need to sort exhaust, airbox, intake stack, ram air and oversize inlet valve mods before I go play in August.

Anyone welcome....

Thing is what I have noticed with the blade its is very, VERY easy to do stupid speeds on it, as it accelarates like a mad man in the higher rev range, mine goes from mild under 6K Rev to snarling pitbull at the Higher range.

The other difference I have noticed is the VTR is much more forgiving, you can get into trouble very quickly with the blade at high speed.

fair enough. I just wondered cos it cant be an easy thing to measure without a racetrack and a lot of special kit.

somebody told me once a Harley v-rod is a quick bike to 60? ? never ridden one ? or a fireblade come to that

If you have the software and a good gps you can get the 0-60 time no problem.

I imagine that there is an iPhone app for it already

I had an arguement with some hot hatch car fanatic about what is faster, car or bike?. The general conversation went from model types and then what you could do to upgrade each, which is where I wanted the conversation to go, which then I said to him " the problem is niether is faster than the other, because it depends on the skill of the person behind the wheel/handle bars, the place a race would take place and how much each person is willing to spend on their vehicle in mods, so the only way is to work out on paper which is faster is to go by the stats that the manifacturers put on paper on vehicles out the crate, and then the worlds your oyster on how much you want to spend to make it go faster and handle better ".

He said yeah your right.

Here's a pdf with some performance figures:

http://www.mcnews.com/mcn/technical/2012JanPerfIndx.pdf

I don't know how accurate these really are... There are so many variables in getting the best possible acceleration. But a fun read anyway. :)

Vtr's 0-60 time is here 3.32s.
