Earlier than expected...
It may come as no surprise that my hornet isn't likely to pass it's MOT in May, and I may have to move onto the storm earlier than expected but lose 7 months no claims as my current insurer refuses to let me on it... I reckon I can get it at a fairly decent price if I go tpft, but it'll cost more to fix up my bike than insure the VTR probably. Although that involves losing my no claims that I'm getting, any opinions on what I should do? I'm torn

Get a dodgy MOT.
Mmm dilemma. Not sure what the answer is. I suppose you could just let the insurance run and then possibly use that years no claims towards the Storm Insurance. I don't know, you need to weigh up the pro and cons and how much you may save in the long run.

Fix the hornet, how much can it cost to keep a Honda on the road!
And it is good practice for servicing the storm when you get the full year ncd

Fek em, change insurance co's. at 18 you have quite a long time (hopefully) to make up the NCB .
Every time I've swapped Ins Co's. in the past the have carried over NCB.
These days I only crash the works van as that doesn't affect my NCB...

Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...

Okay, thanks for the input
we've just practically rebuilt half the hornet as SOMEONE (no names) didn't attach the carbs properly in October. Hence why it's been taking ages to warm up and being unresponsive, I had less than 2 cylinders. Gonna see how it handles now, going on a short ride to Daventry and back

Re: Earlier than expected...
It's working fine now. May actually pass an MOT if I fix everything that wasn't carb related! Guess I'll have to wait until October. Poor me

it makes sense to get an mot on the bike as this will increase its value if you are thinking of selling it.Virt wrote:It's working fine now. May actually pass an MOT if I fix everything that wasn't carb related! Guess I'll have to wait until October. Poor me

Re: Earlier than expected...
Well done on getting to the bottom of the problems... It sounds like your old man had been "fixing" it again

So it was you who jinxed it. Engine will turn over but won't catch, and choke is making no difference
fix one problem and another appear from nowhere. Of course, it would help if I could actually remove the seat without need of a damned chainsaw

Don't let your dad anywhere near the storm !!!AMCQ46 wrote:. It sounds like your old man had been "fixing" it again
Are you pulling wires off it just so you can get on the storm sooner ?

Oh, the storm is my baby. There's an entire workshop section here to provide me with information to learn fromlloydiecbr wrote:

And I would never do such a thing, although it is a good idea!

Can your old man account for his whereabouts last night after you fixed the hornet till this morning when you went to start it?

Re: Earlier than expected...
He was in Birmingham. We fixed it again though, and rode back to Birmingham and Redditch more or less I convoy and it was fine. Forgot to stick some pipe back on
hopefully it will start or I'm stranded in Redditch
