Fork modification

Post by penst8grad »

I am ordering hyperpro springs for my hawk (storm). I was going to also order the racetech valves, but read about drilling a relief hole in the cartridge body instead.

I'm torn because I want to do this right. The drilling is much cheaper, but permanant and the valves are expensive and primarilly for track riding from what I've read.

Who has done their forks and which did you do?

Hi,
I had my forks done by the suspension guru here in Portland - new springs and a valve. After proper set up, it made all the difference in the world. Rear shock is still stock. Would be nice to change, but I am looking for a cheap one.

GP Suspension in Portland, Or. Dave Hodges is your guy. Cost about $450.

I went with Racetech Springs and Valves on Roger's recommendation. Spent the weekend in the mountains of West Virginia. OMG, it's like a new bike.

Now I realize how much the rear shock sucks. Anything stock bolt up or am I going to shell out the $$ for a penske? Wife won't allow that this year ;)
