Plenty of Turbo's, suberchargers have been done.
Yes because the last thing a 100+ bhp V-Twin sports bike needs
Is that all  If I could double that I would.

Actually I think it would be nice to have them at around the 130-140 mark, but it would take a lot more than fuel injection to do this  I think Trainraiders assumptions are spot on and the only real benefit is the possible better fuel efficiency. It's just not economic to do so in the first place, so what's the point, Just buy an SP.

The pie in the sky was miles to high.

But why? I can get to triple figures (if only just) on 33bhp. There's no way you could ever use 130-140 of them unless your name is Casey Stoner or Jorge Lorenzo :P

It's not about getting there but how quick you get there. :)

I can still get there faster than anything my car-owning friends have or will have in the next 10 years at the least

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

I dont see the point in making the Storm any faster as such, it has a very strong midrange, infact they are nearly as quick bottom and mid range as my Blade, I'm sure on a race track my blade would be in for a very hard time if it was a twisty track!. V twins peak at the top end of the power, but still it does around 140mph+ so do you really need anymore power than that.

But more torque is nice....
And any extra acceleration is always a bonus.
Too much is never enough in my book.

Of course not but were talking cost effective here, and even if you screw the engine for all its worth your only ever going to get single digit extra BHP, unless you want to blue print of spend big money on it suping it up to the point where its a debate of is it a storm engine any longer and why the hell didnt I buy the SP for all the money I spent.

As it is the Firestorm is a brilliant sporty V twin I've had two close together so its  from me.

Only thing I would have tried to ' cure ' would have been the size of the fuel tank, because thats what drove me friggin crazy.

I like that :D

I nearly bought a SV1000 for the fuel injection after having a Storm. :eek2 Truth is, I've always thought the fueling on a std storm has always been poor, the ballance drifts off, and it doesn't like starting in the cold and it also has that anoying little habit of going "pop" and cutting out at the most incovienient of times.
If it had EFI and a slightly bigger tank it would be my ideal bike. It has enough power, bag loads of tourque (allthough a little more is always nice :D ) Handles well and has a good combination of sportiness with everyday usability built into it as well.
Just sayin is all :D

Having sampled both the TL1000 and the KTM 990 with Fi i have to say the carbs on my storm are much better for drivability, both the Fi engines were very snatchy at low throttle openings and in tracffic or wet roads [or worse, both] they were hard work.

In fact my mate with the KTM SMT spent a fortune on PC3 and dyno time to improve it and has just traded back to an earlier SM model that was still fitted with carbs and it is night and day improvement on the problem. and the KTM forums are filled with similar comments

I don't doubt you for a minute Ali. Especially the TL but then again, they didn't call it the widow maker for nothing
I suppose the real point is, they shouldn't have to be. There is far greater control with EFI and they could be made as smooth as silk. A lot of guys I know have fuel injection and then go out and put a power commander on it for the very same reason, too snachy, rough bottom end, power dip right where the noise test rpm is ect. I guess it all comes down to cost in the end and what a manufacturer is willing to give for the money.

Oh god, now I can't sleep.
Suppose you took a FI Varadero cased engine, stuck in the Storm cams, six speed gearbox and any other parts, and then fitted the SP1 throttle bodies?

There's some Sp1 throttle bodies on Eblag atm for a tenner, plus £7 P+P, so there's a start.......

Now that should work pretty well............
