Well honda parts are cheaper, however if u go to main dealer and ask for a part, you get they have no idea when they are gonna get !! The sales even told me tht there system says a month but tht is entered in there so they can tell the customer something !!

I was only thinking the other day that I could postpone finishing my observer training until I'm 60 thus helping to re-enforce the stereotype. lol

Ok, as the service history for the 'T' never materialised (Benny, if you are ever over that way, pop in and nag Karl will ya?) and Aprilia have no record of it, so I have decided to drop it into the local Aprilia dealer to do a full, in line with manufacturers recommendations, service. I know it's not gonna be cheap but at least I'll have some piece of mind eh?

Would you do the same in my situation?

Me, No. I would wait for problems to develop or happen and then fix them. But that's just me.

Fair point. I'll have to do that anyways I just don't fancy going all the way to Tamworth in a couple of weeks time without some piece of mind I guess.

I think you just got to remember to press all its buttons in the right order

The thing is what are they going to do in a full service that you can't do or haven't done already. Unless off course they are going to plug some diagnostics computer into it. Mmm hold on, don't they diagnose problems that already exist.

What have you got, plugs, filters, check brakes, Clutch, fuel system, bearings, coolant, re-grease stuff, valve check etc. Generally things in a service don't just suddenly leave you stranded. There would be some kind of early warning. If something is going to leave you stranded, what's the odds on it being electrical or a part that does not get checked during a service, or maybe even a puncture.

An Aprilia full service will cost you a fortune and who's to say they will do a good job of it. They might even create a problem that is not there to begin with. Basically you paying for peace of mind, but it's a false sense of peace of mind. The best peace of mind you can have if something goes tits up, and touch wood (banging my head) it doesn't happen, is you breakdown cover.

That's my opinion anyway.

Wouldn't be that much of a lighter note if the answer isn't very positive

Personally I wouldn't go for a full service, I'd just find a free weekend (do they exist?) and take things off and explore with a manual or something by my side to compare and relate to. Sure, electrical problems wouldn't be able to be detected as easily, but chances are the dealership wouldn't either. They'd check for any current problems and that's it, they wouldn't prepare the system against any upcoming ones
