should i go chinese???

Post by agentpineapple »

i'm not talking about tonights dinner....
i need a left and right fairing in blue, but there bloody hard to find, i already have the fuel tank, tail and nose fairing, after hunting around on the interweb i've come across this site, full fairing delivered for approx £250.....its got to be worth a punt.
worst ways i'll stick them on the second bike and keep the originals for the spondon framed bike..

Makes sense really mate, particularly if you are going to move it on once completed. It must be cheaper to use them than try to get hold of, much sought after, originals in the best colour.
Stick the whole lot on and sell whatever you don't need of the standard kit to recoup some cash.

if things are hard to get hold of and at a price then this has to be a good option, save a load of time as well - guess they don't come with Parts4Bikes or whatever the dodgy yellow bit is.

Will you be known as bigshanghaimarty from then on?

Hold on chaps, who's going to have the headache of fitting the misaligned holes and and lining everything up here.

I agree buy them for the spare bike and sell the panels on there now. What's the postage like on them and will you get hit with customs. The Chinese normally offer refunding you any customs charges you may get hit with.

Simples...refuse to do it unless paid a huge sum of hard cash for your time & efforts.

Either that or constant coffee & biscuits & cake & munchies...

I think you should ask the poor bugger who's gonna have to fit them, cos you wont be

Cant you get originals in any colour and have them painted for close to the same money, especially if theyre a bit scruffy ??

That chinese gear, from what I've seen of it, is shite.

postage is free, customs is another thing all together, although i only seem to get hit with customs charges when it arrives from the usa, go figure, i'll probably keep my other original fairings for spares, as for quality/fitting of chinese fairings, i've heard good things in the last couple of years, and i won't need carls help to fit them, i ain't that bad, anyway theres other people i can ask.....

I agree the Chinese fairings are not too bad but it's like anything Chinese, it's a bit hit and miss. Seb has had a good experience with them and also a few on the Superhawk site have had a good experience.

They are obviously not up to the standard of original parts and need a bit of tweaking but for the cost they pretty good.

Tell me Carl this ''teaking'' you talk of is it anything to do with hitting them with bits of wood ? Or is it similar to water-boarding ?

Well teaking would consist of the use of illegal substances along with the tea-king which one may require if fitting,
No, none the wiser... :confused

True do your research on the seller and read the feedback for the item your looking for, i checked quite a few sellers before i found one i felt comfortable with after reading fitment was good and only required minor lug hole adjustment (for me this was a few mm adjustment very simples and unnoticeable behind the washer) left side was more tricky due to the lugs being buggered where my brother had crashed and smashed the left side in so had to heat these back up and bend them into place

They hold up well to damage and don't crack or shatter, i dropped my bike last year onto my leg (the river in the road incident :shh: ) and was amazed there was no damage when i inspected it

Shame they dont to a Petrol tank skin, that would be the icing on the cake with the deal, you could change kits at your leisure

Would i get them again, yes if it was on a budget, money no option then OE stuff and a repaint would be very nice
