Always take a little bottle of WD40 or 3in1 etc with a straw under the seat (you need the straw with out it its not much cop)
All the salt on the road being flung at my front head had blocked my front cylinder drain hole, it wasn't to long since i last cleared it out
its not so much a problem if you are a dry weather rider but if your bike goes through a storm and the front head gets water flung at it and some will get past the plug cap, it has no where to go
It boils in the head steams up and then causes the front cylinder to fire intermittently making it impossible to ride
This is a nightmare if your a long way from home in the middle of nowhere, and don't have access to spray oil
The drain hole is just behind the front heads exhaust outlet, take the plug cap off, jam your straw up the drain hole wiggle it about, mind your fingers as if the bike has been ruining this will be scolding water, spray in it with the straw up it and then spray down the spark plug and then a light spray inside the plug gap
put it back together and your intermittent firing will be sorted
....if you have never had electrical problems before you might have been wondering what was casing the bike to run like sh1t, this has happened to me three times since i've had the storm so know what it is as soon as it starts, Keep the drain hole clear and you wont have these troubles

That's a nice little reminder for people to keep an eye on that. Something to give the quick once over when next washing the bike as well. I expect some folk on here don't even realise that a front drain hole exists, so well done Seb.

Trust you, you've been around here long enough to know better.

Happened to me unexpectedly once causing an interesting soggy stop-start ride home. Stopped it happening again with your suggestion of clearing the drain hole, plus smearing the spark plug cap cover rubber with silcone grease waterproofing it in the cylinder head recess.

It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.
