I run mine with open pipes and a DJ kit with the same jetting I had for the K&N.....Which was just the basic recommendation they give as a starting point.

Linear power and torque



Mine is the blue line, the other one is one of lloydies experiments.

Both bikes have stick coils and billet inlet trumpets

How come you got the street and not the 1404r race filter?

Race filter is the same as the K&N for airflow and has the same problem with getting it jetted correctly. Road filter is half way, and is easy to jet for

Uh i dunno, mine works spot on. Bit lumpy just off idle but rest of rpm range is grreat

And to add to that, I really cannot be bothered to piss around with the current set up,( DJ kit ) for what, 2 bhp, its not worth the bother, so this is either plug and play or it comes back out.

What do they charge for a power run ? I'd like to put mine on the same dyno, just to see what it reads in comparison. I already had it on a dyno ( well respected local tuner, I might add ) and it showed 112bhp. The fella was insistant that it was accurate, and I have no reason to doubt him ( My SP1 with full akra system, k&n's and custom mapped PC3, made 127 on the same dyno, which is deffo not optimistic ), but 112 does seem quite a lot, compared to most others I've seen.

I think there is a lot of variability day to day and dyno to dyno. Was a hot dry day when lloydie and I were at projex, so power would be down a bit but as our runs we're one after the other is as close a comparison as you can get.

I never worry much about the outright number as long as there is no hoes and the fuelling is good, then it is making as much power as it can for the set up it has.

Just a tad rich in the mid range but it helps the drivability and on a summer evening as the air cools you can feel it lean off and pull a bit stronger

Verdict.......Not going to keep it, the bike fuels better with OE filter, and I'm not going to adjust it when things were spot on before.
Feels a bit hesitant bottom end and on neutral throttle. Fine when the taps are open, but bit fluffy in places, low to mid range. Not terrible, and if it wasn't really good with standard filter, I'd play with the settings, but it is, so I aint.

So....first sensible offer via PM gets it. Cost me £60, and its done 15 miles. Will come as new, in packaging, with paperwork as I recieved it.

not that its much consulation mate, mik in canada rates this filter very highly, and there ain't much he don't know about storms, don't forget my offer still stands....

Lee any changes you make at all to the air box will need correct jetting to account for the increase or decrease in air flow

Anything you put in other than stock is going to flow more air resulting in a lean mixture for standard factory jetting
