What about them big scooters
They look up to the job and offer more weather protection than a bike

Re: What bike would you get
How about a VFR800, great for distance stuff, very comfy great for luggage, Fuel economy, hard wearing and reliable, It's still a V so will still has enough torque to get you on your way and pull you out of trouble. You could even get the later Vtech, they do a nice dark Blue one
and there is the option of ABS. IMO It's a win win. You got your sporty fun VTR and a daily commute/work horse for any distance work or touring. The only thing with the Vtecc is to learn to do your own valve adjustments when needs be, As the majority of garages will charge an arm and a leg for it.

Except the character and fun, you just described a Deauville.BigVeeGrin wrote:if you had to commute 120 miles round trip. Criteria are:
- good economy
- non-chain as I can't be arsed to be adjusting/cleaning every week
- has some character and fun
- doesn't look like an old git bike (cue comments.....)
I may be getting a new job and rather than four wheels would prefer a bike to commute on. I looked at the Triumph tiger but fuel is pretty crap compared to a BM GS800 etc. Then found a BM F800 - belt drive.
Views anyone?

Yamaha BT 1100 only 65 bhp, shaft drive but great fuel economy and sounds the dogs with decent pipes, and happily do 100mph and dont read the reviews they do handle, i had an orange and silver one and everybody loved it. comfy and they do look good.

missing the noise, not the vibes. However never say never!
