New R&R and battery it is then.

Post by T8ull »

MOT today, which it flew through, BUT the battery is Overcharging so needs a new R&R and recommended battery as well. Been having a few battery probs recently so asked the question.
The mechanic knows about the finned version (thanks guys) and isnt a robber, so £60 something for the R&R, £40 battery and a bit of labour. Sound about right?

Well done on passing the MOT, that's always a relief.

£60 for the R/R would get you a MOSFIT type. I wouldn't pay that for a standard one and it's easy enough to fit yourself.

Don't skimp on the battery, you'll be sorry if you do :( with those 2 big pots V twins take some turning over, I know people who've bought cheap batterys and they've lasted about a year and the winter just killed them,
YUASA batterys for me every time, yes you might pay a bit more but they last for years

Yes do the job your self as it's 15 min max, unscrew the rear fairing take it off, unbolt rr plug and play unit, put new one in.

Undo two battery terminal screws, take out and put new battery in.

reassemble.

Very straightforward

As said get best battery you can afford

Don't forget to fit an optimiser lead/connector to the battery while you're at it

14 Ah yellow battery with four terminal posts form Ebay, Simples!
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.
