Bike Tax Petition
Found this on another site I frequent. A petition to get road tax scrapped for bikes. Got to be worth a shot but don`t hold your breath.......

Thats the basis of the argument for the petition. And a very valid point it is too....seb421 wrote:wombles me right off road tax on litre bikes,

Done. however, mentioned on another thread that road tax or vehicle excise duty has stuff all to do with roads. So the basis is flawed, but no harm in making our feelings known.

Re: Bike Tax Petition
I'm all for paying less tax, but if you compare a modern litre bike vs a modern litre capacity car it kicks out far more sh1t
So lets not raise too much awareness ay ;)

But the amount of materials used to create a 220kg bike VS a 1.3 tonne car....? It shouldn't just be about emissions. Fuels aren't the only resource we need to manage correctlycallam_nffc wrote:I'm all for paying less tax, but if you compare a modern litre bike vs a modern litre capacity car it kicks out far more sh1t

Re: Bike Tax Petition
You can't realy make an ecological case for litre bikes in all seriousness v 1 litre cars, some of which do 60-70mpg. Litre bikes are purely for pleasure so are taxed accordingly. Not saying it's right (I get pissed off by having to tax 2 bikes and 2 cars when I can only use one at a time) but for most litre bike riders it's an expensive toy, so there will be little sympathy.
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Signed. Shame it cant just go onto the price of a litre of juice, but of course that would get up business users noses.
Paying £600 a year does pee me off, lucky two cars are so old they don't get caught, otherwise it would be over a grand for nothing

Re: Bike Tax Petition
Buses don't get 20mpg either....more like 4mpg tops.
