Paranoia
Does anyone else get this with their bike?
I know I sound a weirdo, but I often think I can hear strange noises and think something is going wrong with the cam chain lol
Doesn't ever do it on idle or with clutch in, and only when I remind myself about it haha

Re: Paranoia
I used to on mine. I bought manuals but never fitted them. 37000 miles later, the paranoia stopped I got rid of the bike

Re: Paranoia
If you have changed from Honda ones to manuals then they do sound a little different which is perfectly normal. You will find when one changes anything like this you start to listen to things more and notice more noises. The noises where probably there to begin with and you have just not noticed them before. If there was something wrong you would soon know about it as the engine would sound like a bag of nails. So yes a little paranoia maybe!!!
It's a good thing to listen to the engine sounds and get to know the bike, you can even hear the pistons moving up and down and firing, if you listen carefully. But it is all to easy to start worrying about the odd noise or two. Don't forget the bike should be warmed first, like ridden around for at least 30mins so the engine is up to full operating temperature, otherwise you will get a few more noises as things are still cold and expanding.
If you that worried then get another stormer to have a listen or listen to another storm with similar setup to compare against.

Yeah I always let her warm up before I go out
I have the stopper mod done so nothin to worry about
Also I'm used to riding inline fours so obviously this is as noisier engine wise

Re: Paranoia
My bike talks to me throuhg engine noise, she makes different noises if the oil is getting old and needs a change, if the plugs are getting close to needing a change, if the chain needs adjusting.
It all comes down to knowing your bike.

Re: Paranoia
Agree. I think you have hit the nail on the head there, it's just getting to know the sounds of the bike and differences. I think what stumps a lot of people is when converting from Honda tensioners to manuals as there is a definite difference is sound. So that along with the worry and horror stories of failures gets people thinking, sometimes over thinking and unintentionally creating things that are not there. The mind starts playing tricks. My bike talks to me throuhg engine noise, she makes different noises if the oil is getting old and needs a change, if the plugs are getting close to needing a change, if the chain needs adjusting.

Without hearing it there is no definitive way of verifying if there is a problem or not this why I said to listen to another Storm or have someone else who has one have a listen.
