This is the kit that I have (see below), they call it the FP 1.7 RK, and you get the drills supplied.

They are: fr1.4mm, rr1.1mm

Cheers, it's just the sizes i needed, and to be sure that they were bit diameters in mm's, not a part number.....

I'll pick some up for myself, as you say, at those sizes best to use a new bit each time, although a steel bit won't wear in a brass jet, and it's more reaming it out than drilling, really.
Trouble is, it's not easily reversible, so if I try it and find it's not effective I'm bidding on Eblag for a replacement carb set, but worth a try, anyway.

Just had a look, you can pick up both sizes on Ebay for a couple of quid, with free P+P, so easy enough mod, and cheap, too (except for the cost of a spare set of carbs if you don't like it)
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Drilled my main jets a few weeks ago- gave carbs a good cleaning afterwards - only a very small amount of waste produced after the operation but didn't want that gumming up the very small air jet.

Difficult to tell any difference as its only going to affect top end- dyno run on Sat (gratis) plus cheap MOT - from Dyno man.

Fingers crossed. I also went for the rich set up in order to mate it with my BMC- so #50 pilots, 182fr 185rr mains and 3rd clip down on the FP needles. Mixture adjusted by ear, not sure what setting they've ended up on. Bike feels good. Dyno will give me a better idea Sat.

Bloody hell mate   man on a mission.

Not easy getting the mixture right, it takes some fiddling around doesn't it. I rekon you must be between 1.5 to 1/3/4 turns out with 50's at a guess. What screwdriver did you end up using.

Haha. I think I was pretty much there before I had my under-whelming Dyno morning
session a month ago, then seeing how to strip carbs and seeing how easy it is to replace main jets/pilots/needle etc then this was enough to make me want to do it myself. This forum is excellent to give people a sounding board for their ideas- with unexpected top tips & opinions (some you can take on board, others you can choose to ignore, a/r).

Anyway. As I said above, the Dyno guy I had been to was honest that he's now done more research ref our 'storms and he's happy to re-visit another Dyno session for free aswell as doing a cheap (£20) MOT.

Looking forward to it.

The mixture tool I went for was: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/460mm-LONG-MO ... 752947140?

It's fiddly but allows adjustment of both mixture screws accurately. I find with the little adjustments by ear, I lose track of how much I've screwed out/in/out/out/out/in/in...... Etc!!!

Same here.

That's good news on the Dyno guy and impressive that he's gone and researched the Storms. That speaks volumes to me.  and turns something negative into to positive. That's what I call looking after your customers and business. Nice one
