Pragmasis anti-pinch bar

Post by Steve6088 »

I thought I would just share this as I know a few people here also chain their bikes up outside.

I recently became paranoid that a chain through just the back wheel of my bike was not sufficient as a wheel can easily be removed. However, there is no where on this bike or most sports bikes to run a half decent 16mm or 19mm chain. After some research I stumbled across the pragmasis anti-pinch bar. I have found an ideal position on the left hand side of the bike to run the bar. In this position the end of the anti-pinch bar and the shackle of the squires lock are completely inaccessible to file, cut, etc.

This seems like a much better security measure than just putting a chain through the back wheel like the majority of people.

I think it is £50 or something so not particularly cheap.I have forgotten what size I ordered but I can find out if anybody is interested. Hope this is of some interest to someone.

That's different. I take it that bar is solid and not easy to cut through. The only downside I can see is that it will mark your tank and frame, well frame if it was powdercoated/painted. A bit of pipe lagging around the bar would do the trick. Why can't you just wrap the chain directly around the frame.

Yeh, I'll try something like that to protect the frame. I tried electrical tape but it has worn right off.

The bar seems to be pretty tough, I had a go at it with a hacksaw and file and couldn't even mark it.

To wrap the chain completely around the frame would require a lot more chain than I have. This Almax chain is not exactly cheap!. Also I could see it being hard to get the chain wrapped in a way that the bike couldn't be slid out of it. Could just me being paranoid though

Why not glue a bit of push bike inner tube on it.

Use a spray type glue & you should be able to slide it on before the glue sets.
Making up since 2007, sometimes it's true...Honest...
