H7R Bulbs

Post by seb421 »

Okay so the headlight is a bit strange on the gsxr

dipped beam (normal on) is piss poor as most have reported

main beam is excellent but constantly having to turn it on and off on the way home down the motorway at night

the dipped beam is so poor your eyes are on stalks, i thought it was just my bike had a weak bulb but searching through various forums and it seems lots of people are in the same boat

was going to go and get an expensive H7 bulb see if that helped, but then i read on about these new H7R Hid bulbs

they apparently are designed for use in reflector type headlamps something that a normal Hid bulb isn't, i've tried a H4 Hid kit in the storm, it was bright but just blinded everyone

took the plunge and got one of these H7R kits from HIDS4U.co.uk

I've seen these Hid bulbs before(I'm an mot tester)some of them look bright but when you check the headlamp aim there is no beam pattern so all you have is a bright splodge of light, if its not aimed at something they're rubbish at night( and it would fail an mot) It depends if the lamp it's self is compatable with Hid bulbs

Lol its not mine I don't even have one yet

I was skeptical about them but a lot of the gixxer people say they pass the mot and don't dazzle like the normal bulbs

I tried a H4 kit years ago on the storm 4300k, visibility was amazing at night but beam scattered around and blinded other road users

as long as this H7R doesn't do the same I will be happy, would change it over to a normal bulb for the Bike MOT only takes 10 mins tops to unplug and replace normal bulb

Wait and see I guess should be here sometime this week

How about a lighthouse bulb that should work. It would only be as big as the bike.

There's so many different types of bulbs and lighting systems on the market it is just confusing. I'm just going to fit an Eastern beaver kit and stick some Philips bulbs and be done with it. For extra and I don't care if it blinds oncoming drivers, they blind me enough to have to lay of the throttle so balls to them, I will add some spot lights in the airscoops on a separate switch.

The other night coming back down a major A road in the pissing down rain and 1 in the morning, my vision was bloody awful. I had to pretty much ride with my beam right on the cats eyes and follow them. No way could I see the road ahead and every time a car would drive by on the opposite carriageway I would be blinded by their modern day bright LED's or whatever lights they where. It was pissing me right off as for those few moments at high speeds I'm blinded and just hoping for the best. I'm just pissed off with it so I'm going to take the approach of screw the cagers and just think about myself as most other road users do. At least in the countryside the majority of people will switch their main beam off back to dipped when they see oncoming drivers. Why don't people do this on Motorways or Motorway style A roads.
