GSXR Getting on with it

Post by seb421 »

Starting to fall for the GSXR :plainsmile

Managed to look past the fact that it will seemingly scratch its own paint if it could do so without any intervention from its owner

Been in some more hard rain, nothing like that freak storm other week and its not bothered the bike

i'm guessing that horrendous storm would have been too much for most bikes to carry on blasting through so willing to overlook that as the insides hasn't got wet since

Loving the exhaust note especially when coming out of a corner and winding the power on in third.... ohhh yes what a noise!

The big difference came from fitting the MRA Double Bubble screen seems to be doing a great job down the motorway with the wind and rain

Bike feels fantastic on the PR3's

Made some lever angle adjustments and i've got used to the brake feel now, guessing the guy who owned it had short arm's with the position of the levers being so high

commuting MPG is nothing to write home about mind but then again i haven't been trying for economy mode i've been using more rev's than i could have its fetching about 150 miles to 15 ltr, if i knocked it up a few gears i think i could get that near 200 which i think i will have to this coming week as i running low on cash till payday on thursday night friday morning

Shock still needs playing with as the rear is just to stiff its not riding the bumps as i would like it, i'm sure it would be amazing on track but on the sh1t rutted roads up here its a bit harsh if your at any speed, will get it into KAIS at some point to get it sorted out and set up for

a Massive Massive Massive improvement was the H7R kit
http://www.hids4u.co.uk/motorcycle-h7-h ... n-kit.html
(R being for a reflector lens and not a projector housing) Fantastic is the only word only HID kit that i've used and never been flashed at etc, retains the same cutoff as stock its just brighter and clear light

The renthal grips have improved comfort massively, the stock ones was a nasty hard compound rubber, never had pain in my wrists on a bike till i used this bike, swapped the grips to the Medium compound Diamond renthal road grips and feels fantastic now

My current only gripes is that wombles clutch perch, i'm not sure if its been changed and then this one put back on when its been sold but its atrocious, cant recall the last time i stalled a bike and i've stalled this three times in one week :eek2 its not that the power delivery is strange just when your moving the bike gently the movement on the pivot pin is so loose, you can sort of have the clutch pulled slightly then it will move and slacken that bit off so when your just gently moving the bike along say at the front of the house or in / out of the garage at work it can die easily,

Going to inspect the perch today and find out what is up as i don't think it would have left suzuki this wierd i suspect that its got a smaller pin fitted than it should have.....

Other than that the bikes really growing on me now its even feeling very confidence inspiring in the wet too

The seat isn't bothering me either now my baldrocks must have manned up to it now

K5 shocks aren't too hard ??, check your settings against the handbook, if you still think it's too hard back off the compression a couple of clips, set static sag to 10mm, rebound should return at about the same rate at which you push it down. No point sending it to Kais. It's the front end that needs sorting on them ( I still wouldn't send it to Kais though, did a naff job once for me)

I think the clutch lever should have an insert in the pivot hole, if the levers been replaced and the insert/bush hasn't been swapped over that'll be the problem.

the thin paint goes accross the suzuki range...a mate sent his 1250 bandit back after only 5hrs because the paint started coming off the tank, plus the build quality was something to be desired, weld splatter allover the frame, loose clocks and engine mounting bolts..when he asked for his old bike back they'd sold it so had to scoure the country for another gsx1400 in the blue and white FE colours...says he'll never buy a suzuki again

I've always liked the service and work at KAIS and its only 20 mins up the road, not been in for years tho, for 50 quid i'm sure they will do a better job setting it up for me than i ever could

Thats probably the reason its flopping about then i guess its had different levers fitted and then these ones put on and the bush not put back in it, explains why its so bloody loose fitting

Yeah my SV's build quality has soooo much to be desired. Its 9 years old with only 10k on the clock and the bottom of the yokes is rusting, as well as the underside of the tank as well as the rear shock. My bike is causing me problems and there will be loads of work to keep it running however I know that feeling of love you gain.

Nice to hear you're enjoying it now mate :)

Throw a sickie next Friday and come to the meet and show it off :)

If you do get bored of it, you can buy mine, im thinking of getting rid and getting a ZX10 now. Nothing wrong with it, just been reading about how brutal the power is on the ZX10 and I want one :D

Yeah if I decide to get a ZX10, then I would sell the blade. It would be cheaper too so release a grand or so I reckon. I don't know yet, it's just an idea at the moment, but these things usually turn into unresistable urges inside my head, like getting the blade in the first place, or the Drift camera. Once I get an idea that I need to spend some money on something, I'll not be happy till I spend it

Might be able to get a test ride, but not sure. I don't know anyone with one, suppose I could try the dealers.

Check out kawasaki in Bolton they will any one ride what the hell the want too

Looked at a 2008 kawasaki for 4750 I think it was very low miles but to be honest it looked cheap, not the price the bike looked very shoe string budget when you get up close and have a play, they don't sell well seccond hand they was even offering a big warranty on the used on in rocket centre other month. You need more power than the RR6 has? What are you mad lol any more and it's prison sentence power too easily

Ta Da....

Spent three hours making this bush for the clutch lever as the one it should have had was missing

This polymer bush took me ages sanding it down from a large 50 pence size, had to keep sanding a little then turn then sand a little then turn .. on and on and on and on three hours later it was ready to be tapped in with the mallet, clutch now feels and works as it should have

Thanks for the heads up mate

Fits perfect and works perfect will do for now
