MOT....oops

Post by Miztaziggy »

Just checked my MOT as I couldn't remember when it expired.

Seems im a little more than a month overdue

It would mean I have done about 1000 miles, including the Yorkshire dales ride out, and that route in particular 3 times now without a valid MOT.

Glad I didn't get spotted :shh:

Yep that is an Oops. Why don't we get reminders for MOT's like we do Tax. Even an email would be simple enough for them and it wouldn't cost postage. As everything is computerised, surely it wouldn't be that difficult.

Turns out you can get reminders, but you have to text them and it costs £1.50 apparently....

MOT to make sure the vehicle is roadworthy, Road Tax  and Insurance  The License only needs renewing once in a Blue moon and that's just so you have an updated Photo that looks like oneself. Then we have the vehicle logbook which is like the vehicle registration which you get when you purchase the vehicle. This only needs renewing if there are changes to be made like change of address, different engine number or change in colour.

But on the bright side we have faster speed limits. :biggrin

Here you get a sticker for your plate once a year and yes you need insurance to get it and that is it...... Operating license is every 4 years.
You report a change of address but that is it......... You can paint it every week.....no worries, and even an engine swap does not need to be reported....

As for the speed limit it's posted at 65 here but the freeway flows at 80-90 so it's not much different here.

Get in done pronto!

I was a day or two out of date and was hit and run, reported it too police and was asked for a producer. Basically they nicked me (easy crime to solve as I effectively handed my self in) though magistrate was very lenient when I explained the situation. Very pissed of police didn't do anything despite witnesses ID the car reg.
It may be that your whole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

you can request a text message if you wish, I would have to do a bit of research into it, but I swear I have seen it somewhere.
