well, I can relate, having gone through the same thing myself..... truthfully, I am still partly in the same situation, as I have a set of (used) Mori cams sitting in a box, waiting to be installed (likely next valve adjustment).....

another update: having had a look at the underside of the airbox, I noticed there is a fair amount of free space... so I have decided to build a partial basement onto the airbox, lol Volume is volume so I am working at making it deeper where I can.... I obviously won`t be able to extract every last cc, but will get some added volume out of the deal anyhow..... will post pics when it`s all done.

I was going to, but frankly it'll be easier to just glass up an air box laid across the carb mountings, on a bin liner.
Seal it against the underside of the tank, and job done.

mad sure not to interfere with linkages. As for the Sebimoto stuff, let me know if you figure out how to get in touch with them..... I have been looking at their stuff for a while and tried on a few occassions to get in touch with them, never got so much as the courtesy of a reply... I guess they don`t need the business......if you have a secret please share......

am done my latest round of airbox expansion mods. Will try to take some pics tomorrow (in daylight) and post them....
I am also working on another idea btw, related to the filter. First, my inspiration (text found on an Aprilia forum):
"from my Porsche racing I can tell you that the filter elements should be far from the velocity stacks.
The airflow into the stacks can be disrupted from filters that are even 5cm away above or to the side and 2cm below the rim. That comes from flow bench testing we did on TBs in the 40mm to 58mm ranges. Most Porsche guys run a K&N filter, oval and solid topped, that contains a triple bank of TBs but we found that going to large dome shaped pipercross filters which were 6-7cm away from the top and sides of the trumpets we gained 15hp on a 440hp 3.8ltr engine. "
so, with this in mind, and aware that the flat filter in the VTR box places it fairly close tot eh stacks (at elast the billet ones I have), I have decided to try the following:
I want to try cutting out the filter element on an OEM filter and glue/fasten the filter element from a BMC street filter (what I am using new, and works well) on top of the plastic "walls" surrounding the element on the OEM filter. THis would effectively increase the distance between the filter and the bellmouth, a change which should, in theory, improve airflow......
I plan to try this along with the larger airbox, hoping it will enhance airflow and unleash some ponies......

Interesting plans
I've just fitted the gutted bottom again but with standard filter and jets exhaust and it feels good but needs a tweek on the mixtures .
Tomorrow/later I'm going to fit the modded lid and see what that dose :-) . I broke the spacer so can't try that :-( .
I want to try to get it as close as I can for the dyno day .

thanks Lloydie.... not sure when I'll get around to fitting it as I am waiting on parts (filters) but rest assured I will keep you posted. IIRC, you had to up the pilots last time you tried the modded box, correct?

Yep from 45s to 48s I did try 50s but they were too big .

I admit I do wonder if the presence of various "pockets" will create turbulence and harm things, but the goal was to create volume....... there is certainly still a lot more to get, but it's a step in the right direction......

I took what seemed to be easiest route..... considering I had to hold some of the parts for a short bit while the glue set (despite using 5 min. epoxy), perhaps welding would have been easier..... oh well.... next time, lol
as you surely noticed, I put electrical tape on the outside to cover up the glue runs...... slightly less unsightly now......
