Re: Damn it!
It happened to a friend of mine once, he said it was a right bugger to sort out so I've kept mine lubed ever since

Re: Damn it!
I know the tricks. Was only 6 months ago I had to change the frame because it had rotted.
The trick is setting the tension right.

Re: Damn it!
Am thinking of 2 longer term options...
1) roller shutter door
2) brick it up installing a conventional door just wide enough to get a bike in an out!!!!
Could always put bikes in lounge through French doors ;-)

Re: Damn it!
Up & over doors can be a pain to fix as said it's setting the tension right that is the issue.
As a quick fix you could always adapt the door to open using a couple of gate hinges. It can be done as long as the frame is solid & more importantly you have the room for the door to swing open, left or right rather than up & down.
I was thinking of ye old style flat hinges then I found these...

As for you snapped cable they can be replaced & the door saved I would check Yellow Pages to find a local 'Garage Door ' installation co.
Good luck getting it sorted.

Re: Damn it!
Shouldn't be too difficult to fix, when i installed a 2nd hand door into my old wooden garage i bought a kit from ebay, which included new cones, cables and spindles, cheap as chips

Re: Damn it!
I will fit cables myself. Storm isn't currently going anywhere, 125 will fit through side door and vtr will have to live outside!
