Passed the MOT today.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Today I took the bike for a short spin, popped into a local shop then came out and picked my bike up off the floor after someone who couldn't spot a bright orange bike in broad daylight reversed into it and knocked it over.
As it was I watched him do it as I walked out of the shop but there was nothing i could do except yell.. but ofc that didn't stop my bike from kissing the pavement. Luckily the bike went down softly.. I had parked parallel to the kerb.. he simply backed up into my front wheel pushing the bike backwards and it slowly lowered it's self down onto the pavement.. Snapped clutch lever, scrapped the bar end, bent my side stand up, slight twist on left side rear exhaust, damaged left front indicator and scratched my left fairing. Will give him a shout tomorrow with a price for repairs, he can then decide between spotting my some cash or going through his insurance.
On a side note.. if you have seen my pics from where i painted my bike recently.. you would of seen how nasty my front mudguard was before I did my soldering iron welding job on it.. well the mudguard was the first point of impact and the bike was pushed a couple feet along the road but i'm happy to say said mudguard is still in one piece, not a mark on it :-)
On another side note.. I now have a side stand that looks more like a backwards letter C... If he does cough up cash I gota get a side stand, but.... I got a 6mm spacer above my rear shock and yes my bike usually looks like it's about to tip over when on its stand. I have read on here somewhere that a longer stand is in order for this problem. Any chance someone point me in the right direction as to which stand would do the job pls.

What a shitter.
A CBR 1100 X11 or Blackbird is a relatively straight swap.

or CBR1000RR 04-07

Thanks Carl.. I will look about and see what's available second hand wise....
Just spoke to insurance... got a feeling i'm gonna have a battle on my hands because I don't want my bike going off to these so called approved dealerships, want to be paid out so i can do the job myself. Plus my bike is my only transport so don't want it off road any longer than needed, I can basically keep it on the road if I do the job myself. we'll see lol

Just deal direct with the other sides insurance, no need to involve yours, get a quote for all the parts and give it to him, if he's admitted guilt then it shouldn't take too long for the insurance company to send you a cheque. Play it right and you'll be quids in.

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
this is what happens when i have a spare 10mins.....

i filled in the little holes with plastic bumper filler, sanded it nice and smooth, gave it a quick coat of plastic primer followed by gloss black, let it dry before covering in carbon vinyl wrap, not a bad finish, i'll pop them on the bike a take a picture....

look good mate, if you put a top clear coat over the top would it look better still? like how carbon fibre has that gloss coat over the top on dress parts

Black plastic caps that go on the footrests/swingarm bolts...or two hobnobs...BigVeeGrin wrote:being a bit of a dense head here but what has been wrapped here, aside from some spare cufflinks? Looks familiar![]()

Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Dropped the forks out, removed the steering stem, punched out the old outer races, cleaned & re-enameled the bottom yoke. Now waiting for Wemoto to deliver the new tapered bearings. As far as I can tell these are the original bearing set as there was no evidence of punch marks on the locking nut. Well due for an upgrade me thinks.
Re: what have you done to your "bike" today
Don't throw the old bearings away just yet as you can use them to to help get the new ones in place. You don't want to directly hit the new ones with a hammer, so can use the old ones over the top and hit them instead. When you get the new one's, put the outer headstock race in the freezer overnight and then they will shrink a bit and be easier to knock into place. An angle grinder works a treat to help remove the old bearing off the steering stem. A combination of heat from cutting and cutting it off, and it will slide straight off before you even cut right through it. If you have a bit of metal tube or copper pipe slightly larger than the steering stem, this will work well to squarely knock the new bearing down into place.
