Tps, carb balancing, dyno.

Post by Watty »

Hi all, would it be best to set my tps before balancing carbs and a bit of dyno time? Cheers, Andy.

Do a carb balance/sync the carbs before adjusting the TPS as it it is directly connected to the Butterfly which affects the reading. And yes sort the TPS out before going to a dyno. Are you just going for a single dyno run or are you having a dyno tech work on your carbs or what.

You don't need a dyno to balance the carbs, matey......Just a cheap carb balancer.
It's not falling off, it's an upgrade opportunity.

Why are you going on a dyno? Have you fitted a K&N/jetting kit/race cans?
Two bikes, still only four cylinders!

Own peace of mind that mixture etc is all ok I suppose! Only recently bought it and its got scorpion cans and at some point had a k&n fitted, although its now running a standard filter.

These things are brilliant. Used mine (on a Sakakaki) many times to great effect.

The point I am making is that unless you have a Dynojet kit, there isn't much that can be done on a dyno that can't be done in the normal fashion.

my local dyno place does £10 power runs on saturdays, well worth it to see what your a/f is like, your bike has probably been tinkered with by the p/o. so a cheap power run is a good idea, don't go paying £30/40 tho. just make sure your tyres are inflated properly and all your fluids are topped up. also the standard filter is fine, you can see gains with a k&n filter but it will need proper setting up on a dyno to iron out the flat spot.....
let us know how you get on dude.

Yeah that's the plan mate, then I know everything is right for my own peace of mind. Will be taking it to Paul at dynobike in Malton, he set up my zx6. Highly recommended
