Anyone got a starter motor for sale?

Post by Image »

Think mine is on its way out. Sometimes struggles to start but electrics and charging are fine. Sometimes starts after a rest. Pullingthe clutch in while starting seems to help. I think I should fit another starter motor rather than wait for this one to slowly die. Terminals look corroded though. Maybe that could be it?

Have one but pretty sure shipping will make it a non deal... If you get stuck for one....ask I can see what it'll cost to ship from this side of the pond...

Never seen or heard of a VTR starter dying though.. bad grounds (earth), bad starter solenoid or power wire, even a faulty starter switch, never a starter.

Definitely check the terminals it sounds electrical rather than a faulty starter.

I thought you had seb's old starter earlier this year?

If corroded not enough leccy juice will get through to turn the motor over. Clean the terminals, if the connector bolt going into the starter motor has flaked away then replace it with a stainless one & keep greasing under the rubber hood to stop the winter salty roads out.

The connector bolt running throughthe middle is a right mess with corners worn away so could do with another but where do I get one, stainless or normal?

Yep, I had Sebs old starter and worked fine until now. Washers and bolt look well corroded but I'm reluctant to disconnect them for a proper look because of reasons stated above.

Does the Honda Hornet starter motor fit without any modifications and with the same bolts?

Yeah all battery and electrics fine.
I've seen a really good condition Hornet 900 starter at a cheap price. Are these easy to fit to a storm?

Starter not working at all now. I've bought the hornet starter Wicky. Will it bolt on as normal? Any mods needed?
