Bike update

Post by Gazfirestormowner »

Well I've adjusted the timing replace the ccts with manual ones replaced the jets back to standard removed the extra washers that had been put order the needles and rebuilt the bike.

The results........success bike sounds a lot deeper no more popping revs smooth and clean right to the red line with no loss of power.

So once again a big thanx to everyone for all your sound advice and help.

If only the dealer had listened to me all them weeks ago.

I'm going to get it back on the dyno just to check the fuelling but have a feeling the baffles will be removed and a larger jet kit fitted as soon as I get used to the bike.

You should go back to the dealer and tell them you fixed it yourself because they where incompetent or incapable, and let them know the timing was out 180 degrees. Fooking idiots.

If you remove the baffles you will probably just need to stick the washers back in under the needles. http://www.vtr1000.org/phpBB3/viewtopic ... 31&t=28922

Good work gaz and I'm pleased it''s all finally sorted after all this time.

I went back to him this morning that's where I got my jets from and he still didn't think what I was saying was right cause it ran good on the dyno that they used but the bike speaks for its self it's running as it should and on the right jets plus he told me the 120 jets that he put in we're dyno jet jets that he drilled out to 165 so I'm glad I did it myself and never took it back to him cause he obviously isn't as good a mechanic as he thinks.

I'm not sure on the baffles yet I will wait till I have it back on the dyno and see what Kev says.

Well that says it all really, :Richard: amateur that has not got a clue. Dyno jets are a tapered hole (can't drill that) as they are measured by flow rate. The idea being that the fuel speeds up as it goes through the narrow part. Venturi effect.

Jets are only a few quid each so why even bother to drill them !

Don't take it back there again

I just don't know what to say...... :Jaw Drop:

You will be much better off jetting it yourself.

take it for another dyno run, don't use the same dyno as his, then show him the read out of how it should be, and not the crappy read out that he did....
(remember dyno read outs can be tampered with/altered) which might explain his dyno read out. have you named and shamed him in the correct section of this forum?
