Re: 4+ advancer
the bike will run a little hotter in traffic - but will want to accellerate all the time lol!
absolutely no detriment in normal use but if you ride it hard you will appreciate the difference
some say they didnt notice it, but thats cos they dont ride the bike hard.

You do not have to say anything. But it may harm your defence if you do not mention when posting something which you later rely on in quote. Anything you do say may be ripped to sh*t.

Re: 4+ advancer
I like mine it feels like it pulls harder and spins up a little easier .
Also a bigger oil cooler will help with the extra heat .
When these get hot the ecu retards the ignition :-( so keeping it cool will help keep it in the sweet spot .

Re: 4+ advancer
Just remember that they only work with the early year bikes.
The easiest way to tell is look at the dash..... if you have a fuel level gauge, the advanver will not work for you....

Re: 4+ advancer
I looked into this and apparently the difference in part numbers is because Honda changed manufactures according to Roger, so this is still to be proven. So unless someone can get and early and a late one and compare the two side by side I'm not convinced.Just remember that they only work with the early year bikes.

Not sure if it's a gain but it kills wheelies. What gains should one get when fitting one?

How about doing what Benny was going to do and see if you can get some made/fabricated up. Send it to GLSR before fitting I'm sure he could mock something up with the CAD

Re: 4+ advancer
I thought it was because the later models had a different ecu and ignition advance so the +4 wouldn't work .
Re: 4+ advancer
Maybe... that is always a possibility, they could have advanced it on the electronic side, but I have not heard that one before. It would be nice if we had a way of reading the map on these bikes. Or better still able to change them.

I'm not sure which Honda bit you are referring to but the info I was given was that in the '01 "upgrade" a different advance curve was used.cybercarl wrote:I looked into this and apparently the difference in part numbers is because Honda changed manufactures according to Roger, so this is still to be proven. I'll have to see if I have it around somewhere.
Also, if we are talking about the ECU, I always assumed the different P\N was due to the different plug if for no other reason.
Then again, I can't run one with my ECU in anyways......

The difference in part numbers I'm referring to is with the advancer.

Well suggests it was changed at the ECU then as Lloydie says rather than the mechanical advancer itself.a different advance curve was used.

Re: 4+ advancer
I was only teasing.
One that has not been mentioned is that the advancers are supposed to save you a bit of fuel but you will probably counter act this with a bit more throttle.
